Project Description
Shop Spin Master E-Commerce
E-COMMERCE, BRANDING
TL;DR: People were not shopping or engaging in Spin Master’s E-Commerce portal, so we fixed that.
Spin Master was quickly growing as a company. As their portfolio of brands and products developed, it was becoming ever more apparent that they needed more ways to get their sought-after products into their consumers’ hands. For many years Spin Master’s focus was on the tangible product, and the traditional in-store marketing, leaving in-house digital experience an afterthought. Coming into Spin Master, the marketing team, myself, and a fellow digital designer knew that we would create a modern branded shopping experience. A venture that proved not only successful but profitable for Spin Master in under one year.
User experience
User experience
Before beginning the project, I researched their current e-commerce platform. The original experience was a dated and forgotten project that was not considered worthwhile during new product launches or as a marketing platform. Considering the marketing team and company growth goals, a list of must-haves quickly formed during the discovery process, and new site architecture was created.
The final sitemap was a simple and concise process, so consumers can shop with ease and focus. I was also mindful of user habits and attention, focusing on sale products and new arrivals. Desktop and mobile wireframes were created with a responsive/adapted mixed focus.
Modernizing the brand
Modernizing the brand
To compete and sit beside other power-house toy companies, Spin Master needed a digital facelift. Using the E-commerce relaunch as a test pilot, I explored new colour palettes, photography, asset arrangements, and font treatments that would complement and modernize Spin Master in a gentle, gradual way. This experiment in rebranding was successful and would later influence the Spin Master company’s full rebrand, inside and out.
